Martine Grice

Martine Grice is Professor of Phonetics at the University of Cologne. She is also President Elect of the Association of Laboratory Phonology and associate editor of the Journal of Phonetics.
Her work on intonation theory looks at phenomena such as complex tonal structures in pitch accents and at the edges of prosodic constituents, the prominence-lending nature of tones, and the interplay between tonal and supralaryngeal articulatory gestures. She has worked on the intonation of a number of languages, especially Italian, English and German. More recently she has been working on two particularly challenging languages, Tashlhiyt Berber (due to the prevailing variability of tonal placement, especially when words do not contain enough sonorant material to bear the tone) and Vietnamese (due to the interaction between tone and intonation in the language). She has also worked on articulatory evidence for syllable structure in Italian, Tashlhiyt Berber and Maltese.

Daniel Recasens

Daniel Recasens is Full Professor of Catalan Philology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 1995 and director of the Phonetics Laboratory ofthe Institut d’Estudis Catalans since 1990. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Connecticut. He has carried out doctoral and postdoctoral research at Haskins Laboratories (New Haven, USA), is currently Associate Editor of Phonetica and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the International Phonetic Association, and has served as President of the Permanent Council for the organization of the International Congress of the Phonetic Sciences (2007-2011), as Vice-President of the International Phonetic Association (2007-2011) and as President of the 15th International Congress of the Phonetic Sciences (2003). Daniel Recasens has served as Spanish partner in the ESPRIT projects ACCOR and Speech Maps (1989-1995). His book Coarticulation and Sound Change in Romance, CILT 329, John Benjamins is about to appear in 2014.

Thierry Nazzi

Thierry Nazzi is Directeur de recherche at CNRS, and head of the speech perception team at the Psychology of Perception Lab (LPP, CNRS - Université Paris Descartes) since 2006. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Science/Psychology from the EHESS (Paris). He has carried out postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins University (USA), University of California at Berkeley (USA) and University College London (UK). He is currently Associate Editor of Language and Speech and member of the Editorial Board of Infancy. Thierry Nazzi works on early language acquisition from a crosslinguistic perspective, collaborating to compare acquisition by French-learning infants with acquisition in different other languages (such as English, German, Danish and Japanese).

Laura Bosch

Laura Bosch is Professor at the Department of Basic Psychology at the University of Barcelona (UB) and member of the Institute for Research on Brain, Behavior and Cognition (IR3C) of this institution. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Barcelona and a Diploma in Language Pathology from the Free University of Brussels (VUB). She is currently member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Phonetics and Language Learning and Development. She has been member of the executive board (2006-2010) of the Sociedad Española de Psicología Experimental (SEPEX). Her research interests are focused on early speech perception, language learning and phonological development. Starting in year 1995 she became actively involved in the setting of the first infant Lab in Spain where pioneer work on bilingual infants' language discrimination capacities was developed. Her current research has been extended to populations at risk for neurocognitive and language-based disorders.
